Case ManagementWhat We DoIn the event of a missing child, Child Find Manitoba's Case Management consists of:
Manitoba case managers deal with calls surrounding missing children, including parental and stranger abductions, runaways, sightings of missing children, and general information. Calls also include pre-crisis counseling for potential parental abductions or for a youth at risk of running away. Case managers are available 24-hours a day, seven days a week through a toll free help line. Case managers meet twice per year with their counterparts from Child Find organizations across the country. During these consultations, the focus is on establishment of policies and procedures, the exchange of knowledge and techniques, collaboration on specific cases, poster designs, and photo distribution systems. Moreover, there are discussions on media partnerships, the sharing of best practices, and agenda setting for growth and change. Most importantly, these meetings assist in maintaining the flow of case related information within Canada and abroad. Family Support and Referral ServicesIn the event of a missing child, Child Find offers a distinctive support and referral service to families experiencing this tragedy. Experienced and specially trained case managers work closely with families to help facilitate the location of their child as well as provide emotional support. Once the child is located, Child Find completes a follow up process whereby necessary referrals are made and the individual needs of the family are addressed. This complete cycle helps support the family and attempts to address any issues that may be left as yet unresolved. |
